North Carolina man charged with assault after domestic incident

Domestic issues can be extremely complicated and can sometimes spiral out of control dangerously enough for the authorities to become involved. Emotions can run high in these types of cases and stories can sometimes be exaggerated due to the heat of the moment. A North Carolina man has been arrested and accused of assault in an incident involving his ex-girlfriend. The 52-year-old man is now being held at a local jail with his bail set at $50,000. He has been charged with assault on a female, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Woman charged 2 years after Wilmington car accident

A sad case is making headlines in Wilmington, North Carolina. An elderly woman is being charged in relation to a car accident that occurred almost two years ago. Any time negligence is involved and causes someone's death, the victim's family will have legal rights in a civil court. There has been no word on any civil action from the victim's family, but the woman who was driving at the time of the collision could now face a criminal conviction.

2 North Carolina men face drug charges in separate cases

Drug charges are prosecuted seriously in North Carolina; however, that doesn't mean that everyone who is accused is automatically guilty. Two men are facing drug charges after unrelated arrests were recently conducted in Pender County, North Carolina. The first arrest involved a Wilmington man.

North Carolina ambulance accident kills woman; driver sentenced

In an update to a story we first brought you in our October 13 blog post, a North Carolina ambulance driver has now pleaded guilty for his role in a car accident that killed a 19-year-old woman. The man faced a single count of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, and after his plea he was sentenced to serve 45 days in jail and three years of probation. He will also be required to pay restitution of almost $10,000 and write a letter to the family of the victim and give up his license for a year; he is barred from driving an emergency vehicle while he is on probation.

North Carolina man faces fraud charge after benefits application

Becoming disabled, even for a short period of time, is a significant event in anyone's life, and can bring a great deal of stress and financial hardship. On top of these types of concerns, one North Carolina man is now facing fraud charges after being accused of receiving benefits he was not entitled to. He faces charges relating to disability insurance fraud. The 42-year-old man has been arrested and is being held at a local jail on a $10,000 bond.

Wilmington car accident with school bus sends 13 to hospital

Any time students are involved in an accident it affects multiple families and stirs concern within the community. Recently, a car accident occurred in Wilmington that sent numerous people to the hospital. The collision occurred between a school bus transporting students from the Mosley Performance Learning Center and a car. After the car accident, all 13 students on the bus were sent to a local hospital to be examined for injuries.

North Carolina man accused of killing his wife

Many North Carolina residents are aware of a recent news story in which a local man is accused of killing his wife. Police interrogation tapes apparently reveal that the man claimed the violent crime occurred accidentally. He stated he picked up a gun from a bag that was on the floor. However, he told detectives he did not notice that his wife was bleeding after the gun fired. He claims his wife even stated she was OK after the weapon went off.

North Carolina woman will go to jail after fatal car accident

A North Carolina woman responsible for the deaths of three people has made a plea deal in her case. The car accident that led to the charges against her occurred three years ago when the woman was allegedly street racing. Three people were killed when her vehicle struck a Mercedes driven by a mother traveling with her 2-year-old daughter. The accused is believed to have been racing with another car; a 13-year-old passenger in that vehicle also died. It was not immediately clear if wrongful death actions have been commenced to seek monetary damages though our state court system as a result of the devastating tragedy.
