The last point is highlighted by a recent arrest made by federal authorities of a North Carolina man from Fayetteville on federal charges of having a stolen firearm.

Law changes may reduce drunk driving accident prevalence in NC

A national watchdog organization has suggested sweeping changes to drunk driving laws in all states, according to a recent report. Here in North Carolina, a drunk driving accident is a sadly common occurrence, with 1,227 in 2011 alone. The National Transportation Safety Board is suggesting that a change in the legal limit may help to curb this trend and lower the frequency of DWI-related wrecks both on the state and national level.

Charges have been filed in the death of a United States Marine who was killed in a car crash on May 4. Police say the officer, who was stationed here in North Carolina, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle. The driver, a Newport resident, was arrested in connection with the car accident.

Tragedy struck a North Carolina community on April 27 when a woman transporting her 2-year-old daughter was killed in a crash. The car accident left her infant daughter injured and also injured the other driver. A police investigation is ongoing, but no charges have yet been filed in the incident.

A devastating crash on Highway 87 between a motorcycle and a tractor trailer has left one woman with serious injuries. The motorcycle accident occurred in the early hours of the morning of April 18 just inside the limits of a North Carolina city. Police responded to the crash immediately, and their investigation into the nature of the accident is ongoing.

Police in Greensboro responded to reports of a crash early in the morning of Sunday, April 21. The two-car accident claimed the lives of two North Carolina residents and one man who authorities say was from out-of-state. The local crash reconstruction team is currently investigating factors that may have contributed to the fatal crash.
