Quite often drunk driving is thought of as being a crime that only occurs on the roadways. North Carolina residents know better since every summer at least one drunk driving accident on the water will lead to senseless boating deaths. This was sadly the case on the weekend of May 31, when two boaters died in what is suspected to be an incidence of drinking and boating.
Charges have been filed in the death of a United States Marine who was killed in a car crash on May 4. Police say the officer, who was stationed here in North Carolina, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle. The driver, a Newport resident, was arrested in connection with the car accident.
A Davidson County, North Carolina man died in a fatal car accident on N.C. 109. The car accident caused considerable damage and was difficult to clean up, leaving roads blocked for almost five hours. The crash resulted in one fatality and three injuries.
A 19-year-old North Carolina girl was killed last week in a two-car crash. The fatal car accident occurred in Elizabeth City at the intersection of Peartree Road and Pitts Chapel Road. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the Virginia Beach teenager was turning when a pickup truck struck her vehicle on the driver's side.
