Anytime a pedestrian or anyone on any type of smaller motorized vehicle is in an accident, the injuries can be far worse than if two regular cars or trucks were involved. A Wilmington man has finally succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a deadly accident. The car accident happened while the man was at Carolina Beach. He was on a motor scooter when he was struck by a car. The man was apparently transported to the hospital after the crash, but passed away two days later.
The driver of the car was traveling the opposite direction of the man on the scooter. While trying to turn into a convenience store, he struck the scooter driver. There has been no word on the type of injuries the victim received during the accident, but he passed away a couple of days later.
Right now, the man is not facing any criminal charges for this car accident. However, police will likely consult with the local district attorney’s office to discuss whether the 39-year-old driver should be charged. Details surrounding exactly what happened are sketchy right now and there has been no word on whether any external factors such as alcohol or drugs were involved.
No one expects a family member to pass away suddenly, and certainly not by an accident caused by someone else. They will likely want to know exactly what happened to cause this man’s death, so they may want to access the investigation report once it is completed. The report could answer their questions and could also help bolster and future claims they may make against this driver. If negligence is documented, the family could very well press forward with a claim in a Wilmington court.
