North Carolina men to face charges for heroin

On Behalf of | May 26, 2011 | Drug Charges |

Drug charges can negatively affect educational opportunities and employment prospects. Many job applications ask for detailed information about any previous criminal history, including any drug charges. Prospective employers may require a detailed background check before even considering you for an interview. If you have a drug conviction on your record, it can be embarrassing and discouraging. It can also make getting a job in North Carolina very difficult.

A recent case in North Carolina involved two men who were arrested on drug charges. Officers were conducting a surveillance investigation on one of the men, when they noticed him getting into a vehicle parked at a local McDonald’s. The man had previously been involved with drug charges involving possession of heroin, just a month before.

Officers arrested the man and discovered that he was carrying cash and heroin. Police arrested the second man shortly after. If convicted, the man could be facing serious jail time.

Facing drug charges like these is never easy. Regardless of whether or not a person is a first-time offender or has previous convictions, strong defenses can be built to challenge drug charges. In certain circumstances, expungement may also be a possibility. Expungements enable people to get a fresh start in life by removing criminal charges from their public records.

On the other hand, in some cases, police may have arrested the wrong person. Experienced North Carolina defense attorneys know that not everyone who has been accused of a drug-related crime is guilty. It is important that anyone who is accused of drug charges is aware of all the options available to them under the North Carolina laws.
