Truck driver passes in no passing zone, kills North Carolina couple

It comes as no surprise that semi trucks are larger than most other vehicles on the road. And when an accident occurs that involves a semi truck or tractor trailer, the damage can be catastrophic due to the vehicle’s sheer size and speed.

Late last week, a truck accident occurred in Randolph County, North Carolina, that caused serious damage and injuries to those involved. The multi-vehicle crash is still under investigation by the NC State Highway Patrol.

These types of accidents are devastating to victims and their families. From what investigators know at this point, the driver of a semi truck tried to pass vehicles in front of him – however he was in a no passing zone. As he began trying to pass vehicles, a car was forced off the road in front of him.

As the semi truck continued forward, it hit two additional vehicles. The fourth vehicle that was struck was hit head-on. Two of the individuals in the car were killed while the third passenger, a little boy, was seriously injured and transported to a hospital nearby. The semi truck driver reportedly also sustained injuries and was treated for his injuries.

This type of tragic fatal accident often leaves family members of the victims with many questions while trying to deal with the loss of a loved one. If the truck driver had adhered to the no passing zone rules, would the accident have been avoided? Will the truck driver be held responsible?

Another question that may come to mind is how the family will deal with many of the financial challenges that can arise after an unexpected death. There are medical and funeral bills to be taken care of, as well as compensating for the loss of a life. In some instances, families can seek compensation in the wake of a fatal crash. While no amount of money will ever replace a loved one, it can help the family deal with the expenses they may face.
