On Behalf of | Dec 13, 2016 | Drug Charges |

Sources say that three men were arrested in North Carolina after officers found drugs and a stolen firearm in their vehicle during a traffic stop on Dec. 2. The incident took place in Goldsboro, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say a 30-year-old from Goldsboro, a 24-year-old from Lakeland, Florida, and a 21-year-old from Lakeland, Florida, were pulled over near the intersection of James Street and Workman Street. During a search of their vehicle, officers allegedly found cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a stolen gun.

The Goldsboro man was charged with various crimes, including possession with the intent to sell cocaine, possession with the intent to sell marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm, driving with a revoked license and driving with an open container of alcohol. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on a $30,000 secured bond. The Lakeland men were charged with possession with the intent to sell cocaine as well as with possession of drug paraphernalia. They were also booked into the Wayne County Jail on a $3,000 secured bond each.

Individuals facing drug charges could help their situation by consulting with a criminal defense attorney immediately after their arrest. An attorney could protect a defendant’s rights during police questioning as well as throughout the legal process. Legal counsel could search for evidence that counters the prosecution’s version of events and build a strong defense based on the circumstances of the case. If the evidence against a defendant is strong, an attorney may recommend that the defendant accept a plea deal in order to reduce the charges and penalties in exchange for a guilty plea.
