BBQ restaurant owner and 3 others accused of selling marijuana

Recently, a group of four individuals here in North Carolina has been accused of having sold marijuana. A 39-year-old man who is the owner of a recently closed barbecue restaurant in Gaston County and a 35-year-old man who was an employee of this restaurant are among this group. The other two individuals that make up the group are a 29-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman.

Included among the places the four are alleged to have sold marijuana are the barbecue restaurant (which is near a child care center), the home of the 39-year-old man and the shared home of the 35-year-old man and the 29-year-old woman.

The four are each facing multiple drug charges, with the 39-year-old man and the 35-year-old man being given the largest charge loads. There are a wide variety of different types of charges that are included in the charge loads of the four individuals.

The charges came about from an undercover operation police conducted. According to authorities, the four above-mentioned individuals sold over 30 pounds of marijuana to an undercover officer during the course of the operation.

As this case underscores, there are many different kinds of drug charges that can be brought against a person in relation to alleged drug activity. Included among the factors that can influence what specific charges a person can face in a drug case are: the nature of the alleged drug activity, the type of drug the alleged activity involved, the amount of drugs the alleged activity involved and where the alleged activity occurred.

One of the things criminal defense attorneys can look into for drug crime defendants is whether or not prosecutors presented sufficient evidence to support the charges they brought. When a prosecutor brings a charge without sufficient evidence to back it, criminal defense attorneys can fight to have the charge dropped.
