A deadly accident in North Carolina has resulted in charges being filed against the driver. The accident occurred when a pedestrian was attempting to cross an intersection. Although the woman was transported to the hospital for treatment, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The woman was walking in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a tractor trailer. The trailer was turning right onto the road the woman was walking on. She was initially transported to a local hospital for treatment, but had to be airlifted to another facility where she died.

The accident is still being investigated by authorities. The details surrounding it are slightly sketchy and do not divulge exactly what happened. Fortunately, the accident investigation will likely be able to answer any questions the family may have about this tragic car accident.

When a loved one dies in an accident like this, some of the main concerns are knowing what happened and who might be responsible for it. The truck driver involved in the crash is now facing misdemeanor death by motor vehicle charges. For now, investigators will have to focus on the evidence they do have so they can attempt to piece together the circumstances behind this deadly crash. If negligence is cited as a contributing factor, the family could use that to bolster any claims they make if they decide to pursue civil action in a North Carolina court. Although the driver is facing criminal charges, he and the truck owner could still be held additionally responsible for monetary damages if the family files a civil lawsuit based upon evidence of negligence that is deemed to have caused or contributed to the death of their loved one.
