A deadly North Carolina car accident has led to charges against the passenger allegedly responsible. Careless and reckless driving, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and no operator's license charges have been filed against a 26-year-old man following the car accident that killed a 27-year-old woman. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
Authorities believe that the victim was driving the car when she overcorrected her vehicle, which crossed over the center line and collided head-on into another vehicle. However, the charges in this crash appear to be because the passenger purportedly took the wheel away from the driver. Authorities appear to believe that this may have caused the crash and explains why the passenger is facing such serious charges.
The mother and two children in the other vehicle sustained injuries that required hospitalization. They have all been released from the hospital. All of the families involved in this deadly accident are being interviewed. More charges in this incident are possible.
It can be difficult for investigators to sort everything out in a car accident such as this. The families involved undoubtedly have questions about the North Carolina crash and the reasons that the passenger may have tried to wrest the wheel from the driver. Although he is now facing a host of criminal charges in connection with this crash, the deceased woman's family and the other injured parties may have additional legal avenues available to them to help recoup some of their expenses associated with the incident. Although there has been no word on any personal injury or wrongful death lawsuits, this could be something the man may have to face in the future.
