Police chief’s son faces drug charges in North Carolina

On Behalf of | Aug 31, 2012 | Drug Charges |

The son of a North Carolina police chief is facing drug charges after being stopped by local police. The 29-year-old was driving in the early morning hours when he was stopped by an officer after his vehicle veered out of his lane of travel. Drug charges resulted from the traffic stop.

The officer allegedly found both drug paraphernalia and heroin inside the man’s truck. He is now facing drug charges including felony heroin charges and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, he faces charges of driving while impaired, failure to carry a valid driver’s license, failure to comply with driver’s license restrictions of a .04 blood alcohol content or greater and driving left of center.

The man was arrested and transported to a local jail. There is no word on whether he has posted bond. His father stated this was not the man’s first brush with the law but that he will be treated the same as anyone else in this type of trouble.

This man is facing several criminal charges that could land him a stiff jail sentence if he is convicted. He would do well to ensure he is aware of his legal rights as they pertain to the various charges against him. Doing so could help him present a valid and relevant criminal defense for what could be a complicated case. The amount and severity of the charges against him appear to be overwhelming, but appearances do not equate guilt. He will soon be allowed to address these drug charges in a North Carolina court, in hopes of obtaining a positive outcome in his case.
