Accused drunk driver seriously injures North Carolina pedestrian

A woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident in North Carolina. The accused drunk driver apparently struck a pedestrian with her vehicle and then fled the scene of the crash. She has since been arrested for her role in the accident.

The accident occurred after midnight as a pedestrian was crossing the street. Authorities believe the man may have been intoxicated while he was attempting to cross in an unmarked area. However, the woman struck him with her vehicle, fled the scene, and did not call emergency services until about an hour after the crash.

She was arrested and is now facing two criminal charges related to the accident, including DWI. Her vehicle sustained damage that will likely link her back to the accident scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital suffering from multiple injuries including broken legs. Surgery will be required to treat some of his injuries.

The accused drunk driver is facing criminal charges in North Carolina for her actions, but there has been no word on any civil action against her. The pedestrian is still in the hospital for his injuries, but the possibility of filing a personal injury suit will be available to him once he begins to recover. Although a drunk driver can be criminally charged, it doesn't always mean a conviction will be secured. This can leave victims frustrated with the process and make them feel helpless. Someone in a situation like this may want to seek assistance because, depending on the specific facts and circumstances, they may have the right to seek a personal injury claim to help them with the costs associated with the harm they came to as a result of the accident.
