North Carolina violent crime charge for man accused of murder

A North Carolina man is facing a violent crime charge after an elderly woman died recently. The 51-year-old has been charged with murder and stands accused of beating the woman to death. Authorities believe the violent crime occurred when the man allegedly broke into the woman's apartment with plans to rob the home and instead found it occupied.

The woman put up a fight against the intruder and tried to fight him off. It is believed she died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation. Her body was discovered the next day by one of her children. Authorities stated that tips and evidence at the scene led them to the accused. After undergoing questioning by detectives, he was arrested.

When the man's home was searched, investigators claim to have discovered a rifle belonging to the woman. This is not his first brush with the law, but he doesn't appear to have a history of violent crime. He is currently in jail and is being held without bail.

A violent crime conviction in North Carolina, especially for the crime or murder, could lead to a significant jail term. It may help if he fully understands the repercussions that such a conviction could bring. A murder charge can be frightening in itself, but the very real possibility exists that he could spend the rest of his life in prison. He would do well to seek help in a case like this and attempt to mount a relevant defense in hopes that he can achieve the best possible result.
