Former pro wrestler Matt Hardy facing drug charges

On Behalf of | Oct 20, 2011 | Drug Charges |

North Carolina resident and former pro wrestler Matt Hardy was recently arrested for the third time in a month — this time for a litany of drug charges — Moore County deputies announced on Sept. 20. In August, he was arrested for DWI after he allegedly struck a guard rail in Raleigh. In a separate incident, he was arrested for driving while impaired at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Sept. 15 when another driver complained that Hardy swerved across two lanes of traffic and almost struck two other vehicles.

Less than a week later, deputies searched his Cameron home, though it was not clear if police had a search warrant. He faces different court dates for each of the charges. In the third arrest, police allegedly seized 20 vials of anabolic steroids, one dosage of ecstasy, $1900 in cash and “drug paraphernalia” from Hardy’s house. He was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule III controlled substance. He is also charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of “drug paraphernalia” and maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance.

Like any other person accused of a crime, Hardy is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. But since he is facing multiple charges for multiple arrests, he could be subject to a stiff fine and a prison sentence. A North Carolina attorney experienced in helping individuals charged with drug related crimes may assist in ensuring that all legal rights are respected and planning a defense seeking an equitable resolution of all important matters.
